Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup dried bread crumbs
- ⅓ cup chopped onion
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ cup shortening
- 12 fluid ounces tomato-based chili sauce
- 1 ¼ cups grape jelly
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion, bread crumbs and salt. Mix well and shape into meatballs.
- Add shortening to a large skillet and melt over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat, and place meatballs on paper towels for excess shortening to drain off.
- To the skillet, add jelly and chili sauce and heat. Continue stirring until jelly is melted.. Return meatballs to skillet, and stir them in the sauce to coat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.

- Remove meat and transfer it to a bowl to shred. (Pro tip: use two forks to claw the meat apart).
- Return meat to the slow cooker and stir in barbeque sauce.
