What is Hero Wars: Alliance?
At its core, Hero Wars: Alliance is about building a team of captivating heroes and levelling them up as you conquer increasingly demanding levels. Along the way, you’ll pick up items, find yourself courted by guilds, deal with merchants, and touch base with one of the most active communities in the world of mobile RPGs.
You’ll summon heroes and strategically maneuver them through increasingly difficult levels by taking advantage of each one’s unique strengths and abilities. Bring a diverse range of heroes into your team to build a force able to adapt around changing threats and unlock victory time after time.
It’s all about making the most of every move, leveraging the abilities of heroes to create a fully-rounded team, and careful planning to progress quickly while maximizing rewards. Battle through to level 30 for the chance to join guilds and take advantage of exclusive activities and interact with fellow players.
How to play Hero Wars: Alliance
Start by downloading the Fetch app, then opening Fetch Play by tapping the trophy icon at the bottom of the screen. Find Hero Wars: Alliance, then tap to download and create an account.
Now you’re ready for battle, and there are two main modes from which to choose:
- Campaign Mode: Conquer increasingly challenging stages and earn stars based on your performance. You’ll unlock the full potential and unique abilities of each hero to get through each mission.
- City Gates Mode: Your hero is pitted against an enemy-filled tower. By strategically dragging and dropping them into floors where their abilities provide an advantage, you’ll add the level of each defeated enemy to your hero and move further upwards… but a single loss halts your progress!
Here’s how you’ll make it through.
Summoning heroes
Tapping the treasure chest icon in the main menu opens the summoning portal, where you’ll summon new heroes using either gems or the free summonings available every few hours. Blue heroes are the most common and possess their own reasonable attributes, but keep your fingers crossed for one of the rarer gold heroes that boast extraordinary power and skills.
Campaign battles
Battles in Hero Wars: Alliance will be familiar to anyone who’s played idle RPGs before. After designing the ideal team and starting a battle, troops will engage and fight the enemy automatically.
You can sit back and enjoy the carnage as they carve up their adversaries, or you can provide direct input by activating special powers once a hero’s ability bar fills. Unleashing those powers at the opportune moment is absolutely crucial.
Leveling up
Heroes earn experience points (EXP) as they decimate opponents. Accumulate enough EXP and they’ll level up, enjoying boosted stats and more formidable combat skills. EXP potions found as rewards or purchased from the merchant can grant instant EXP to a chosen hero, and you can even use gold to boost stats through promotion.
Upgrading abilities
The hero screen contains several options for enhancing a hero’s existing skills, but it also tempts players with powerful new abilities that can be unlocked to give a significant edge during battles. Each has a unique set of skills that you’ll upgrade through a combination of gold (earned through game modes and quests) and skill points (earned as heroes level up). Tailoring skills to fit around your team is key to victory.
Using gear
Navigating to the hero screen also lets you check out each one’s equipment. Either pick and choose from what’s available or tap “Equip All” to have your hero automatically outfitted with the most suitable items. Equipping powerful gear enhances stats, making heroes even tougher in combat.
Joining guilds
The world of guilds opens up at level 30. Joining one lets you participate in guild-only events – such as Guild War co-op battles – summon powerful Titan allies during battle in various game modes, reap unique rewards, and connect with fellow players to share strats and forge alliances.
Is Hero Wars: Alliance free to play?
Sure is. Like every game in the Fetch Play arsenal – from casual tile matchers to word-based puzzlers – Hero Wars: Alliance is free to download and free to play. There’s always the option to buy in-game gold for swifter progress, but it never feels necessary simply to enjoy the game.
Can you make money playing Hero Wars: Alliance?

Bit of a reach? Okay, you can’t earn money directly through Hero Wars: Alliance, but you can pair it with the Fetch Play gaming app and unlock the ability to earn free gift cards simply by completing in-game tasks.

Hero Wars: Alliance: Here is the best team and best heroes
While there’s no definitive best heroes in Hero Wars: Alliance, four stand out as the most powerful and versatile:
- Jorgen
- Martha
- Cleaver
- Astaroth
However, there’s really no “best team.” You’re looking to balance strengths and weaknesses, seek out complementary abilities, and work around different challenges and objectives. Experimentation is essential – it’s where you’ll learn what works and truly master the game.
That said, here’s a few tips to help you get started.
Build a solid core
A core of five strong heroes can form your team’s backbone throughout the entire game, playing a crucial role in early battles and levelling up steadily to tackle tougher opponents later on. Hero Wars: Alliance has seven hero classes, so try for a good balance of:
- Tank
- Warrior
- Marksman
- Mage
- Support
- Control
- Healer
Manage your resources
Instead of attempting to level up every hero, research which ones complement each other and work around your playstyle, then dedicate resources like gold, EXP, and gear accordingly to build a strong group of heroes that work well together.
Interact with the community
There’s no better resource for new players than the Hero Wars: Alliance fanbase. However, idiosyncratic your playstyle or diverse your team, someone has been there before you and can offer some helpful advice.
