While the 26 default outfits offer the kind of variety most gamers expect from a third-person shooter, there are currently over 2,000 available in the game. Wondering what the rarest skins are? We’ve got a catalog of some of the most exclusive and most popular Fortnite skins, which can cost thousands of V-Bucks.
Before you worry too much, a V-Buck is worth about a penny, but those pennies can add up. That’s why Fetch is here with some tips on how to get free Fortnite skins just by playing games (the first step is to download the Fetch app if you don’t already have it).

Other legit ways to get free skins in Fortnite
Using Fetch Play to earn some V-Bucks is one of the easiest ways to get the free Fortnite skins you want when you want them, but it’s not the only way. Here are four more ways to get free Fortnite skins:
- Special Events or Challenges: Events like Winterfest or brand collaborations are one of the easiest ways to nab free Fortnite skins.
- Tournaments: Winning a Fortnite tournament can sometimes earn you a skin, if you’re skilled enough (and lucky enough).
- Refer-a-Friend Bonuses: Epic will occasionally reward you with a free Fortnite skin for referring friends.
- Crew Subscription Bonuses: Crew subscriptions aren’t free, but you’ll sometimes have free or discounted Fortnite skins (and a V-Buck bonus) as a member of the crew.
These are all legit ways to get free skins in Fortnite, but they also all have one downside: none of them will always work to expand your Fortnite wardrobe. Fetch Play is ready for you 24/7.
Most popular Fortnite skins players love
Fan favorite Fortnite skins
Who doesn’t love Spider-Man? And what gamer won’t cringe a bit when they lose to a giant banana? These five skins are some fan favorites:
- Peely: The banana skin costume is funny, it’s lighthearted and its iconic. And if anyone is taking the game too seriously, getting taken out by a banana should take them down a peg.
- Midas: A criminal of legendary fame, he runs Midas’ Crew and sports a fun golden touch when you want to play the villain for a bit.
- Renegade Raider: As much a fun outfit as a mark of accomplishment, Renegade Raider shows off that you were either here from the beginning or achieved massive experience gains when she got re-released.
- Spider-Man: Released as part of the Marvel crossover, people love to play him because he’s Spider-Man. As Stan Lee would say, ’nuff said.
- Drift: The iconic pink and gold fox mask makes an impression, and it’s why he’s one of the most popular characters, with no shortage of different skins to choose from.
Most popular Fortnite skins of all time
According to the experts at Fortnite.GG, these are the five most popular Fortnite skins of all time:
- Backlash (4.136%): Priced at 1,800 V-Bucks, the most popular skin will set you back nearly $20. Released in September 2020, this Legendary skin carries a modern superhero-style look in green and white.
- Joltara (3.43%): Another Legendary skin (and another 1,800 V-Bucks), Joltara debuted alongside Backlash and sports a red-and-gold suit with a domino mask. Think more Incredibles than MCU.
- Par Patroller (2.867%): An uncommon skin (so just 800 V-Bucks), Par Patroller is geared up to hit the driving range after the Battle Royale.
- Surf Witch (2.831%): A rare outfit priced at 1,200 V-Bucks, Surf Witch looks just as likely to ring you up at Hot Topic, stream the latest dating sim on Twitch or mop the floor with you in Ballistic 5v5.
- Focus (2.803%): Another rare outfit (1,200 V-Bucks), Focus is the oldest of the top 5, debuting in 2019 and giving off post-apocalyptic vibes with some haphazard armor, bandages and a unique mask.
Most popular Fortnite skins right now (Season MS1)
Now, if these are different from what you’ve been seeing in the game right now, that’s not too surprising. For Chapter 6, Season MS1, the most used Fortnite skins are:
- Apprentice Evie (3.191%) from Star Wars.
- Psycho Bandit (3.052%) from Borderlands 3.
- Backlash (2.886%) from Fortnite’s Boundless set.
- Chani (2.766%) from Dune.
- Serenade (2.699%) from Fortnite’s Ethereal Song set.
Rare skins in Fortnite you (probably) won’t see again
While the nine skins above might not be too hard to snag for free with some V-Bucks, the rarest skins in Fortnite are ones you probably won’t see again.
- Double Helix: Available exclusively as a bonus for buyers of the Nintendo Switch in 2018, every Double Helix redemption code has been redeemed and there is no sign of him becoming available again.
- Agent Peely: If you could reach level 300 in the Chapter 2 Season 2 battle pass, you were rewarded with Agent Peely (aka Golden Peely). While Peely might seem like a fun skin, something about this rare James Bond-inspired look makes him seem dangerous.
- Astro Jack: Another Chapter 2 Season 2 hit, Astro Jack gives off techno messiah vibes, sporting a DJ-inspired astronaut helmet with a bright neon frowning face across the front.
- The Reaper: Although a John Wick outfit was eventually released, The Reaper bore a striking resemblance to Keanu Reeves’ character and has been called “John Wick” since his debut. If you’ve seen any John Wick film, you know why gamers would love playing as The Reaper.
- Reflex: Released as a collaboration with Nvidia, Reflex hasn’t been seen in the Fortnite shop for nearly six years now. If Epic and Nvidia collaborate again, maybe we’ll see another Reflex skin, but don’t get your hopes up.
Now, we have to say “probably,” because Psycho Bandit was originally only available as part of Borderlands 3 pre-orders but has made his way back into occasional rotation. But if you find yourself in a place to grab a skin you know is an exclusive outfit, turn those Fetch Points into a free Fortnite skin while you can.
Turn your Fetch Points into V-Bucks and go skin shopping
Even the most affordable Fortnite skin is going to run you 800 V-Bucks. Now that you know how to get free Fortnite skins, why spend money on them at all? Using your Fetch Points and playing mobile games featured in Fetch Play is one of the easiest ongoing ways to get free Fortnite skins and expand your in-game wardrobe.
Open up your Fetch app, check your points balance and redeem a gift card to go skin shopping today.
