What is Township & how do I play?

Township is a casual mobile farming and city-building game in which you are tasked with building up and decorating your town, planting and harvesting crops, and expanding your territory. The crops you harvest are used to produce goods in factories, and this production allows you to earn coins and experience points. To expand your farmland and increase the size of your harvests, you need to acquire more fields; to acquire more fields, you’ll need to increase your town’s population; and to increase your town’s population, you’ll need to build more houses.

If this seems like a lot to consider, don’t worry! Below, we’ll get into the specifics of how to build more houses, increase your town’s population, get more fields, and expand your town’s overall territory.

Is Township free to play?

Yes, Township is a mobile game you can both download and play for free. While you’ll occasionally receive prompts asking if you’d like to pay for special tools or coins you need to expand and level up your town, these are completely optional purchases that simply allow you to speed up gameplay. You don’t have to spend any money to play the game as intended.

Can I make money playing Township?

While you will earn Township Cash and coins through normal gameplay, these are purely in-game currencies designed to be spent inside the game; they have no real-world value. That’s why you should play Township through the Fetch Play library, as you will earn Fetch Points which you can then redeem for actual gift cards you can spend online or in-store at all kinds of retailers you love to shop at!

A big part of the fun of playing a new game is discovering little secrets and tricks as you play. Still, there are a few Township hacks we think are pretty essential if you want to start leveling up your town, expanding your territory, completing tasks, and (of course) earning Fetch Points. Here are answers to some of the most commonly-asked Township questions.

  2. Select the type of crop you want to plant and then drag that to the field you clicked on.
  3. Without releasing your finger, you can also drag that crop over other fields in order to plant those seeds elsewhere as well.

How can I get more fields in Township?

Fields in Township are free (you can get them in the “Farming” section of the store), but the number of fields you can have is dependent upon your town’s population. In order to be eligible to get more fields, you must first increase your town’s population (more on that below).

+

How do I increase my population?

In order to increase your population in Township, you need to build more houses.

To learn more about your town’s population, refer to the top left corner of your screen where you will find:

What is an expansion and how do I get expansions?

Once you run out of room for new building construction, you need to start buying expansions, which are areas connected to your town that you can clear and then build upon and decorate.

To be eligible to buy an expansion, your town must meet the designated population minimum, and you will need coins, nails, shovels, and axes to start construction.

If you meet all of the above requirements, you can buy an expansion by clicking on an area marked with a dollar sign ($) and then clicking “Expand.”

If you are in need of tools like shovels and axes in order to clear space for a new expansion, there are a few different ways to acquire these supplies:

  • Buy tools you need with Township Cash.
  • Participate in weekly regattas, which will sometimes award top winners with tools.
  • Try to win tools at the House of Luck.
  • Find and open treasure chests, which will sometimes contain tools.
  • Visit the market, where you will sometimes find deals on tools.
  • Send out trains stocked up with goods, as the trains may sometimes bring you back tools.
