By Team Fetch

April 10, 2024

If you’re a gamer, Minecraft is probably on your radar. It’s that niche little indie game that sold over 300 million copies to become the best-selling video game in history. Chew on that, Tetris.

Famed for offering near unlimited freedom and fostering some truly impressive projects (remember when someone built a recreation of King’s Landing with more than 3,000 unique buildings?!), Minecraft also lets you buy certain DLC items from the Minecraft Marketplace using Minecoins.

Most gamers fork over real money… but we’re here to tell you how to get free Minecoins by playing Fetch Play games.

What is Fetch Play?

  • You use those Fetch points to earn free gift cards for dozens of popular retailers, including gamer favorites such as Razer Gold, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Gamers are already making their mark – Fetch users earned an average of 4,921 points each within the very first month of Fetch Play being available.

How to Get Free Minecoins from Fetch Gift Cards

If you know Minecraft, you know Minecoins. They’re the golden circular-shaped coins emblazoned with an ‘M’ that let you pick up content from the Minecraft Marketplace – you know, skins, maps, texture packs, and the like.

You’ll normally need to buy Minecoins with real-world money through your Xbox LIVE account, but Fetch Play lets you exchange points for in-app gift cards that can be exchanged for Minecoins through other platforms, essentially creating a Minecraft gift card.

Gift cards include:

Is Minecraft Cross Platform?

What with Minecraft being somewhat popular, it’s available for gamers on just about any modern device. It’s also cross-platform, so you can play with friends across the internet even when you’re a PC gamer and they’re a console kinda person.

Different platforms available for cross-play include:

One caveat: cross-platforming is only available for Bedrock versions of the game, so players on the Java edition can only play others on the same version. The good news is that anyone who registered their Java Edition account before October 19, 2018 automatically owns the Bedrock Edition, too.

Minecraft Hacks, Tips & Tricks

New strats are surfacing for Minecraft all the time, but there are a few key pieces of advice that newer players always seem to find useful. We’re happy to help, so here’s a quick breakdown of popular tips and tricks.

What Do Cows Eat in Minecraft?

Cows are a must-have for any Minecraft farmer worth their salt. A well-fed cow can produce milk for cheese and other dairy products, leather for armor and other useful items, and even baby cows when you have a breeding pair.

Cows only eat plants, so plenty of Minecraft bovines munch on grass alone. Simply make sure there’s plenty around for them. You can also harvest wheat into hay bales and place them near your cows. Carrots, apples, and beetroot are other options, but they’re not as effective at keeping cows happy and healthy.

How Big is a Chunk in Minecraft?

A chunk is 16 blocks wide and 16 blocks long. They extend from the bottom void all the way up to the top sky, and they’re used by the game to divide maps into manageable sections. As you walk around, chunks will generate around you as needed.

How to Make Bread in Minecraft

Simple to craft and a reliable source of sustenance, bread is as much as staple in Minecraft as in the real world. You’ll also get a snazzy little ‘Bake Bread’ Achievement upon producing your first loaf.

Here’s how:

  • Obtain Wheat: Destroy tall grass to get seeds, then grow wheat by taking a hoe, farming the land, placing the seeds and ensuring they have water – once golden yellow with black dots at the top, you can break crops into wheat and seeds. Alternatively, just procure wheat from a villager.
  • Craft Bread: Open your crafting bench and place 3 pieces of wheat beside each other in the crafting space.
  • Collect Your Bread: Bread will now be available to move to your inventory, and you’ll get that nifty ‘Bake Bread’ Achievement if this is your first time.

What is Adventure Mode in Minecraft?

Regular old Minecraft Survival Mode is a full-on sandbox, allowing you to break or place blocks at will without any set limits. Adventure Mode is a little different.

It brings a touch more control to player-created maps by limiting some gameplay. You can’t destroy or place any block you choose, and you’ll always spawn right at the set spawn point rather than anywhere within a certain grid. However, you can still receive damage, suffer from hunger, craft items, and interact with other parts of the world.

In this context, limits are good. They allow players to design and create their own custom maps with a story-driven or mission-driven aspect rather than simply letting players indulge their creativity.

How to Get a Parrot Off Your Shoulder in Minecraft

Parrots act just like other Minecraft pets, with the awesome exception of being able to perch on your shoulder.

You’ll have to tame a parrot first. Find one in a jungle near a leaf, log, or grass block, then feed it wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, beetroot seeds, melon seeds, or Torchflower seeds. Whenever you feed with a seed, there’s a 10% chance of taming the parrot.

Once tame, you can coax a parrot onto your shoulder simply by walking into them. To get them off, simply lose height and the parrot will fly away – jumping or falling is the easiest way to make this happen.

How to Show Hitboxes in Minecraft

Hitboxes describe how much space an entity within Minecraft takes up, and you can see each one by pressing the F3 + B keys. This is handy whether you’re battling the Ender Dragon and need to make each hit count or want to place an object somewhere on your farm.

Hitboxes will show up as white outlines. There’ll also be a flat red rectangle near the entity’s ‘eyes’, which represent its line of sight.

How to Make Pink Dye in Minecraft

You might happen upon a Wandering Trader willing to sell pink dye in exchange for emeralds, but why part with precious gems when you can simply craft your own?

Simply open your crafting bench and use one of the following patterns:

  • Place 1 red dye and 1 white dye in the first 2 boxes.
  • Place 1 pink tulip in the first box on the first row.
  • Place 1 peony in the first box on the first row.

Pink dye should appear in the box to the right, ready to be moved to your inventory. Use it for anything from making pink stained glass to dying a sheep for pink wool.
